The Kapanu Story

Kapanu AG was founded in 2015 as a spin-off of ETH and attracted investment by Ivoclar Vivadent AG soon after.

At the International Dental Show (IDS) 2017 we demonstrated the world’s first real-time dental Augmented Reality app. Visitors could instantly see a visualization of different teeth on an iPad.

In July 2017, Kapanu was acquired by Ivoclar Vivadent.

Our AR technology is used in the IvoSmile app, released in November 2018 by Ivoclar Vivadent, and in the IvoSmile Orthodontics app, released in March 2020 by Ivoclar Vivadent.

Our mission is to improve the interaction within the dentistry with the next-generation technologies. We aim to help the dental community achieve a high quality and multidisciplinary dental services and products. Therefore, we believe in developing long-term collaborative relationships to provide care and dialogue around dental treatment.

Our Creative Minds

We are a spin-off from the Institute of Visual Computing / Computer Graphics Laboratory of ETH Zurich. We specialize in advanced research and engineering on visual computing technologies, computer vision, computer graphics and machine learning.
